It is not an easy read, but it contains some innovative thoughts which are an extension of Kant, Schopenhauer and Darwin. The basic idea is that human thought is a by-product of evolution, a mechanism for coping with the struggle to survive.

2009 reprint of 1925 edition. This is an important book of one idea, but that idea is a very important one for the social scientist.
